Nong Khai is located some 600 km north of Bangkok.
You can get there by bus or train, but it takes a long time.
It is best to fly to Udon Thani, and from there the last 55 km by bus.
Nong Khai is located along the Mekong, with on the other side of the river Lao, and that gives the place its charm. Since a few years there is a bridge over the Mekong near the city.
We have been there a few times. First a few short day trips with friends from Udon Thani. In 2000 we stayed there three days, you learn the city slightly better. The first of those three days was something special, it was cold! Luckily the hotel had hot water, and we have bought sweaters (with a Dutch label!). and socks.
The coordinates are 17°52'49"N 102°44'42"E.
We've been there for the last time in 2000.
When we write about a place, we write about what we saw and did there, and what we think about it; no more and no less.

Our opinion about a hotel or restaurant is not ment to be a (positive or negative) review, you can find that information on other sites.
