Introduction

Home - Travel stories - Ancient city - Introduction

296/1 Sukhumvit Road, Bangpoo, Samut Prakan www.ancientcity.com.

Old Siam, formerly The Ancient City, is not a town or village, but a gigantic open-air museum. The name in Thai is Muang Boran.
It is said that this is the largest open air museum in the world. Because the museum is so largethere are free bicycles available at the entrance, and (not free) electric golf carts.

It is a private initiative of the Thai millionaire Lek Viriyaphant.
The site has the shape of Thailand.
The museum is full of original and replica buildings from all over Thailand.

You can probably get there by bus, but a taxi or your own transportation is much more convenient.

The coordinates are 13°32'45"N 100°37'41"E.

We first visited the Ancient City in 1987, and our last visit was in March 2016.
