The first time we arrived in Lampang by train. We found a hotel near the river and the market. We stayed in the same hotel on our next visits to Lampang. This part of town we know best.
Lampang is a quiet town, don't expect much nightlife there. During our last visits, between 2010 and 2012, there were more restaurants and bars on Thanon Tipchang.
The part of the town between the clock-tower and the market is quiet, small streets, not much traffic, and very nice houses. On the other side of the river, on the east side, are some very nice temples. It's very nice to have dinner in one of the restaurants on the banks of the river.
The area around Lampang is very nice, it's convenient to have your own car, but it's not necessary.
When we write about a place, we write about what we saw and did there, and what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travelguide (we are not complete), and it is neither an advice to visit or not to visit a place. Other sites can give you that information.
Our opinion about a hotel or restaurant is not ment to be a (positive or negative) review, you can find that information on other sites.
