Like many cities in Thailand, Chiang Rai has a night bazar. The night bazar in Chang Mai is located on two connected squares. On the last square you can find a lot of little shops where you have to get the food yourself, in the middel are tables where you can eat your food.. On the first square is a large restaurant, and a lot of shops. Both squares hav a large stage.
We have dined a few times in the restaurant on the first square. You can sit outside under some trees, there is colorfull lightning, and you can enjoy dance and music on the stage. Sometimes, when a group of tourists arrives, it's very crowded, but these groups never stay for a long time. And you can enjoy watching people.. Both foreign and Thai visitors are eating in the restaurant.
The menu offers Thai and Northern-Thai dishes, the food tastes good. The staff is friendly, but sometimes, when groups arrive, a bit stressed. Their tasks are divided very strict, one person takes the orders and brings the bill, someone else brings in the food, and yet another person takes away the empty dishes.
The price is very reasonable, about 500 Thb for three or four dishes an a couple and some bottles of beer.
We dined there in February 2010 and March 2011.
When we write about a place, we write about what we saw and did there, and what we think about it; no more and no less.
