During our first visits to Chiang Mai, maybe 20 years ago, we had dinner at the Riverside.
It was a wooden building, on the bank of the river, with a few terraces.
We went there again in March 2010.
Riverside did not look the way we expected.
It was big, very big. And very busy.
We were lucky, we got a table overlooking the river.
The menu was not Thai, just western dishes. That made it a bit difficult for us to make a choice, but after a while we decided what we wanted to order.
While we were waiting for our food, we got an imperssion of the restaurant. It is a bit of a machine, a well-oiled machine. The staff knows what to do, and they do it fast. A lot of guests are coming in, and they are brought to a table very fast. This restaurant is very well organised.
The food was acceptable, but is was no Thai food.
When we walked out, we saw a big and new building on the other side of the road. This building was a part of the Riverside.
When we write about a place, we write about what we saw and did there, and what we think about it; no more and no less.
