Slept in Nipa Garden Hotel

Home - Travel stories - Surat Thani - Slept in Nipa Garden Hotel

3/25 Mu 3 By Pass Road, Tambon Makham Tiea, Amphoe Mueang, Surat Thani, http://www.nipagarden.net/.

This is a large hotel, a bit outside the center of Surat, conveniently located along the highway to Ko Samui.

We have slept here one night on the way to Ko Samui, with lots of family. Someone has reserved 4 rooms for us, but actually we needed 5.

The hotel has over 65 rooms spread over two floors. There is ample parking for the hotel.
The reception looks neat, and when we arrived, we were there first, someone helped us with the luggage.
When we checkin it appeared that we did not jusr had to pay the room rate in advance, which is fairly common in Thailand, but also had to pay the same amount, to deposit for the key.
We could pay with a credit card, but because of the credit card, we needed 30 Thb pay extra, strange, because that is usually a percentage of the total amount.
Then it turned out that the credit card did not function, or the device, it was not clear. Probably the hotel did not want credit cards.
Luckily we had enough cash money with us.

The rooms close to each other, were quite common, a bed, old tv, refrigerator and reasonable air conditioning and a bathroom with hot and cold water. One of the rooms smelled very musty, we asked for another room, and got it.

We then walked to the restaurant, and did discovered the garden, a few square meters of grass. We had a few drinks, the people were friendly. On the door was a sign saying that there was free wifi, but we could not get it working.
In the evening we have eaten in the restaurant, with the whole family, the quality was better than we expected.

The next day, when checking out, we got the deposit refunded without problems.

We paid 550 Thb for one room.

We've been there once, in February 2013.
