Along Khlong Saen Saep, between Anusawari and the Sirat Expressway, Samsen Nai, Phaya Thai, Bangkok.
This is not just one restaurant, but five or six in a row. They all sell noodle soup, and just noodle soup.
We have been there at one, probably at The Best The Boat Noodle. But it does, we think, not really matter what you eat here. The quality will make up almost nothing. Therefore, the competition is too great.
The restaurants all have a covered terrace along Khlong Saen Saeb.
Formerly one of the dirtiest, smelliest klongs of Bangkok.
Whether the khlong is cleaner now we do not know, but it smells at least not anymore.
Many restaurants also have a room inside, sometimes with air conditioning.
But we enjoy sitting along the water.
The restaurants are simply furnished, wooden tables with stools. And on the table a box of cutlery, chopsticks and spoons, and napkins. And a basket of ingredients, dried chillies, fish sauce, sugar, pepper, vinegar, to make the noodle soup taste the way you like it.
It's busy, very busy.
People just keep walking in, and order a bowl of noodle soup, some people order a few bowls.
This kind of restaurants is very popular in Thailand.
The food tastes good, service is fast, and it costs little.
We have been there for the first time in 2016. Pia has been here before when she was in Thailand because her mother was very sick.
When we write about a place, we write about what we saw and did there, and what we think about it; no more and no less.
