Technical information
This site is designed for Firefox 2 (and higher), Internet Explorer 6 (and higher) and Netscape 7 (and higher) with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.
We use a MS-Access database to maintain our linking system.
The data-model of this database is very simple:
Updates for our site are generated, with a lot of Visual Basic programs, from this database.
This means our site uses only static pages.
We try to update our site every two weeks (except when we are in Thailand).
HTML and CSS is hand-coded for optimal performance.
We try to avoid the usage of tables.
Tables are displayed when the complete table is received by the browser.
If a table is huge, this may take a while, and you are waiting, and waiting, and waiting, . . . . .
Sometimes we use Frontpage to design a new part of our site, but afterwards,
we manually edit the code for optimalization and performance.
We conform our site to the XHTML 1.0 standard and the CSS 2.1 standard.
History of changes
2007-10-14
Started to make our site completely valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS 2.1
Removed the Yahoo counter, because this counter adds invalid HTML-code.
2007-09-30
We started to add travel information, trying to make some kind of a travel guide.
But we both have a full-time job.
Maintaining a site with travel-information and having a full-time job is too much.
So we stopped with travel-information.
2007-08-04
Removed Nedstat counter, because it caused a lot of very irritating pop-up's.
Replaced it by StatCounter, which causes no pop-up's and gives more information.
