We both slept badly.
We get up at six, drink coffee and eat our breakfast.
Pia needs some more cleaning in the fridge.
After showering we load everything that needs to be taken into the car and at a quarter
past nine we drive away.
The GPS would like us to travel via Antwerp and Brussels, but we don't feel much for that, we want to go via Maastricht and Liège.
The device understands it in the vicinity of Maastricht.
Just before the border with Belgium we stop at a La Place restaurant along the highway for a visit to the toilet and we eat a sandwich.
Then we drive on. In Belgium we fill the tank, maybe not necessary, but just to be sure. The GPS sends us, we notice, along the shortest route, not via the fastest, and that is not our intention.
At a quarter to four we are in Reims at our hotel, the Holiday Inn Reims - City Center, where we park the car in the parking garage. The parking garage is very tight, this results in a few scratches.
The hotel is very impersonal but seems otherwise good. The room has everything we want but it is very small, we are in each other's way.
We are in the center of Reims, and we look around at a square nearby.
Because we are hungry we sit down at Les salons des 3 Brasseurs where we taste beer
(reasonable but not special) and eat carpacio and grilled pork.
It is dinner time and it is getting busier on the street, many terraces are full. The food on offer does not differ much from Lille.
After dinner we walk a bit and sit down at L'Ernest Hemingway where we have a drink.
It is striking how much is still smoked in the street.
There is 525 km on the clock.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment, there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood, the weather and many other factors.
