Home - Journeys - Portugal - Lisbon, Spain, France 2019 - Tuesday, August 6, 2019

We slept very badly at Hotel Dom Henrique Downtown in Porto. In the adjoining rooms, a couple of Dutch people made quite a lot of noise at three in the night; loud conversations, laughter and slamming doors.
The breakfast is like yesterday, but very busy.

Today we are leaving for Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
But first Pia has to buy some cream, so we go looking for a perfumery or pharmacy, which we luckily find very quickly.
Then we pack, and at half past eleven we get the car out of the parking garage. Straight through the center of Porto the GPS sends us, but in this way we are on the highway very quickly.
We can drive well, the road is beautiful through green mountains, both in Portugal and in Spain. It does rain occasionally along the way.

With a few stops we arrive at Hotel A Quinta Da Auga Relais & Châteaux at four o'clock.
This hotel is fairly remote and looks beautiful and rural. The welcome is very friendly as you might expect. The decor looks good, not quite our taste but in style. The room is on the attic floor, spacious, very good bed, large bathroom, very nice.

We want to eat at the hotel, the weather is not so good, and we don't want to go looking for a restaurant.
It is a pity that dinner is only possible from half past eight.
We reserve the dinner anyway because it keeps raining.
We have a drink in the bar, walk around the hotel. A river flows just behind the hotel. We have another drink and then go eat. The food tastes good, the service is friendly and very neat. It is quite expensive, 70 euros, but we knew that beforehand.
