Bang Saen is a seaside resort on the east coast of Thailand, in the province of Chonburi, about 10 kilometers east of the provincial capital Mueang Chonburi. Bang Saen Beach is really just the (wide) boulevard along the beach.

Chonburi is approximately 100 kilometers from Bangkok, more than an hour away. The majority of the road is on good toll roads, four or more lanes. Near Chonburi, the last 20 kilometers, the road turns into busy four-lane roads, with lots of traffic lights and declining traffic. It is often very busy here.
Bang Saen is also easy to reach by bus, many buses leave from Ekamai Bus terminal in Bangkok every day and stop near Bang Saen. The last part to the beach goes with local songtaews (pick-up trucks that serve as public transport).

Bang Saen Beach mainly attracts Thai bathers, entire families, who spend the day, almost always Saturday or Sunday, eating and drinking on beach chairs under umbrellas. Only children venture on the beach and in the water.
If there are whites, they usually come with a Thai family.
But if you think you are going to a nice beach and sit comfortably on the beach then you are wrong. When you finally arrive at the beach you don't see a beach. The beach is narrow, especially when it is high tide.
But there are many sun loungers and umbrellas. They are not on the beach but on the boulevard along the beach. And there are also a lot of parked cars. Finding a parking space is therefore quite a challenge.

A visit to Bang Saen is not what you as a Dutchman expect from a day at the beach, but it is fun.
We have previously ever been through the week in Bang Saen, and it is a very quiet resort.

We were here on Sunday, November 19, 2017.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.

This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not. There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment, there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood, the weather and many other factors.
