Phu Klon Country Club Health Mud Spa is what the name says, a company where you can bathe in mineral mud. It may not sound as nice, but it is a pleasant experience.
We wanted to take it easy for a day, and at the reception of our hotel,
Imperial Mea Hong Son Resort, this was recommended.
We drove there, but first we visited the Su Tong Pae Brug. The Spa is easy to find, the road is well signposted. We had the idea to go and see, and if it would be nice to take a bath.
The Spa is just off the road, but the access path is a bit bumpy, and the parking lot is behind the spa.
We looked around, and soon came to the conclusion that we wanted to take a bath.
For Thb 1200 you get a full treatment of over 90 minutes.
The treatment starts with a facial massage followed by a mask with the mud. With a number of people you lie in a cool room on a treatment table.
Then comes the real mud bath for which we have to change into spa clothes. The clothes are rather thin, and all our own clothes have to be taken off. There are lockers for our own clothes and bags. Then we are smeared with black mud by some friendly ladies in a bath cubicle. We have to go outside and wait on a sunny terrace until the mud has dried.
It takes a long time to dry up, but after a while we can go back to our bath cubicle. The same ladies now scrub us clean, and then we are rubbed with a mixture that includes tamarind and coffee grounds. Followed by another scrubbing.
The final stage is a bath in warm mineral water. We can stay in it as long as we want, we have been in it for fifteen minutes. Also afterwards an extensive rinse and finally we are rubbed with bath oil.
After putting on our own clothes we drove quietly back to the hotel, and we had a nice meal
on the way.
Back in the hotel, when we sit on the balcony, we are very lazy, a very pleasant feeling.
Whether that is due to the treatment, or whether the mud has played a role in that, we do not know.
But it was pleasant.
We visited the spa on Sunday, November 26, 2017.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment, there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood, the weather and many other factors.
