Hua Ta Kee means something like 'the head of a crocodile'.
It is a part of the Latkrabang
district of Bangkok.
The board of Latkrabang is located in Hua Ta Kee.
Originally it was a community that was housed in wooden houses along and behind Khlong Prawet Burirom and a market along Khlong Hua Ta Kee. Both khlongs intersect here. This is the part of Hua Ta Kee that we are writing about now.
The other part, with a lot of new construction and heavy traffic, we find much less interesting. But we also often have to be there for banking or shopping, for example.
The market is still there, especially in the morning it is busy.
The wooden houses are also still there. In front of the houses there is a wooden walkway above the water of the khlong, sometimes covered. In the middle is a high bridge where you can cross the khlong.
In the past there were houses on both sides of the khlong, but a few years ago a fire broke out on the south side and all houses on one side of the bridge burned down. Now there are only weeds in that place. On the other side of the bridge, also on the south side, the wooden path has been replaced by a concrete path where even cars can drive.
The north side is much more interesting.
About three years ago, when we do not know exactly, one of the residents took the initiative to clean up the neighborhood. The result is a number of houses that have been completely renovated, using the original materials as much as possible.
The renovated houses include an art gallery, various dining options and even a guest house.
And even now refurbishing continues, it is not going fast, but work is being done and the result looks nice.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment, there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood, the weather and many other factors.
