Haad Chao Lao is a beach located a few kilometers west of Chanthaburi. The beach is quite wide at low tide, and in some places very narrow at high tide.
There are resorts along the beach, but not all land is built up. The resorts are sometimes built almost to the beach, which is the cause of the narrow beach at high tide.
On the other side of the road past the resorts are restaurants, and again accommodation.
Fortunately, high-rise buildings do not yet exist.

The visitors here are mainly Thai visitors, who make a lot of noise now and then. But in the evening around ten o'clock it is quiet.
You will occasionally find a Western visitor, but there are not many.

During the week it is quite quiet, so it is not necessary to book a hotel. It is a lot busier on weekends and holidays, it is only a good 200 km drive from Bangkok and then a weekend here is doable. Timely reservations are necessary on weekends and public holidays.

Nearby are other beaches such as Haad Laem Sing, Haad Laem Sadet and Haad Kung Wiman.

We were here on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 and on Thursday, February 20, 2020. We left on Friday, February 21, 2020.
